Women’s Lacrosse Drops Heartbreaker Against Beavers

Waterville, ME – Women's Lacrosse dropped a heartbreaker against the University of Maine Farmington Beavers on Monday, April 1st, 2024. The final score was 13-14 in the Terriers seventh game of the season.

How it Happened:
  • The Terriers started the game well, with Alia Chasse finding the back of the net within the first four minutes of the game.
  • The Beavers responded two minutes later, but Mara Gentry scored shortly after to take back the lead for the Terriers.
  • Chasse added one more goal in the quarter, this time being assisted by Mary LaRochelle, to take a 3-1 lead into the second.
  • The Beavers started the second quarter well, scoring two unanswered goals to tie things at 3-3.
  • Despite the Beavers best efforts, the Terriers scored four unanswered goals in a span of five minutes to take a commanding 7-3 lead.
  • With less than two minutes left in the half, Samantha Snow found Isabella Pelletier, who scored to make it 8-4.
  • The Beavers ended the half well, scoring two unanswered goals to make it 8-6.
  • Both teams would trade goals to start the third quarter, with Scarlett Raymond-Ayer and Gentry finding the back of the net to make it 10-8.
  • With 10 minutes left in the third quarter, the Beavers took control, scoring three goals to take the lead 11-10 headed into the fourth quarter.
  • The start of the fourth quarter looked promising for the Terriers, with Chasse netting her fourth goal of the game.
  • The Beavers were once again able to respond, scoring three unanswered goals in a span of two minutes to take an important 14-11 lead over the Terriers.
  • With two minutes remaining LaRochelle found Pelletier, who scored to give the Terriers hope that they could complete the comeback.
  • Forty seconds later LaRochelle's solo effort made it 13-14.
  • With less than 30 seconds left, Raymond-Ayer had once final effort on goal, but the shot was ultimately saved, and the final horn meant the contest ended with a 13-14 loss for the Terriers.
