Women’s Lacrosse Unable to Keep Pace With Mariners

Waterville, ME – Women's Lacrosse was unable to keep pace with Maine Maritime Academy on Wednesday, March 20th, 2024. The final score was 6-17 in the Terriers fourth game of the season.

How it Happened:
  • The Mariners wasted no time starting the game, scoring three quick goals within the first four minutes of the game.
  • With six minutes remaining in the first quarter Mary LaRochelle found Mara Gentry, who scored to make it 1-3.
  • The Mariners quickly responded, scoring a minute later.
  • Isabella Pelletier was able to take advantage of a free position attempt with three minutes remaining in the first quarter to cut the deficit to two goals.
  • The Mariners scored yet again in the final minutes of the quarter, giving them a 5-2 lead after the first.
  • The Terriers were unable to contain the Mariners in the first six minutes of the second quarter and found themselves down 2-8.
  • Gentry would score yet again from a free position attempt to make it 3-8 one minute later.
  • The Mariners would tack on three more goals before halftime and had a 11-3 lead going into the second half.
  • Pelletier had a strong third quarter, scoring two goals in less than a minute, but the Mariners added on an additional four goals to make it 15-5 going into the fourth quarter.
  • LaRochelle would get on the scoresheet six minutes into the fourth quarter, but that was the final goal the Terriers would score in the contest.
  • The game ended in a 6-17 loss for the Terriers, despite some positive moments.

  • Women's Lacrosse will look to bounce back as they take on Vermont State University Lyndon in the first conference game of the season at home on Saturday, March 23rd, 2024. Game time is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
