Women’s Soccer Unable to Overcome Strong Lynx Squad

Cambridge, MA – Women's Soccer had some offensive opportunities throughout the match, but were unable to capitalize as the Lesley University Lynx would defeat the Terriers by a score of 7-0 on Tuesday, October 8th.  

Records: 

Thomas: Overall (1-7-1), NAC (1-6-0) 

Lesley: Overall (7-4-1), NAC (5-0-0) 

How it Happened: 

  • The Lynx would strike quickly, scoring within the first 2 minutes of play 

  • Terriers' keeper Emilee Ireland would make 3 big saves in the next few minutes, but the Lynx offense would pressure the Terriers defense, scoring 2 more goals to put Thomas down 3-0 early in the first half 

  • Midway through the first half, Serenia Ahumada and Mary Larochelle would both have opportunities to score, but both efforts would be saved by the Lynx keeper 

  • Lesley would score one more goal in the first half to put the Terriers down 4-0 at halftime 

  • The Terriers would try to build some momentum in the opening 20 minutes of the second half with some key defensive stops  

  • Lesley's offense would continue to overwhelm the Terriers defense, as they went on to score 3 goals in the second half  

  • Thomas would have a few attacking chances in the second half, but were unable to capitalize on any of them, and would be defeated by a score of 7-0 

  • Ireland would finish the match with 13 saves off 21 shots faced  

What's Next:  

The Terriers will be back in action on Saturday October 12th, as they travel to Delhi, New York, to take on the SUNY Delhi Broncos in a non-conference match. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
