Women’s Soccer Outmatched by Farmington in 7-0 Defeat

Farmington, ME – Women Soccer could not find a response to the Beavers attack, dropping their North Atlantic Conference match to the University of Maine Farmington by a score of 7-0 on Saturday, October 5th, 2024.


 

Records: 

Thomas College: Overall (1-5-1), NAC (1-4-1) 

University of Maine Farmington: Overall (4-5-2), NAC (2-2-2) 


 

How it Happened:  

  • The Beavers would put pressure on the Terriers early, putting two shots on target that would be saved by Terrier's keeper Emilee Ireland.

  • Emily Gutierrez would have an offensive opportunity in the 10th minute, but could not capitalize as her shot would miss just left of the goal.

  • The Beavers would find an attacker downfield and would score in the 19th minute to put the Terriers down 1-0.

  • Ireland would make seven saves in the remainder of the first half, but the Beavers would score two late goals to put the Terriers down 3-0 at halftime.

  • Yaribel Pena would put a solid shot on target early in the second half, but her attempt would be saved by the Beavers keeper.

  • The Terriers would have a few more opportunities in the second half to score but could not capitalize on any of them. 

  • Farmington would run away with the game, scoring four goals in the second half to hand the Terriers a 7-0 loss.

  • Ireland would finish the match with 14 saves on 24 shots faced.

What's Next: 

  • The Terriers will travel to Cambridge, Massachusetts to take on the Lesley University Lynx in a North Atlantic Conference match, on Tuesday, October 8th. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM.
