Castine, ME – Women's Soccer was unable to battle back after a quick start from Maine Maritime Academy on Wednesday, September 6^th, 2023. The final score was 2-4.

Thomas College: Overall (1-2), NAC (0-0)  
Maine Maritime Academy: Overall (2-0-1) NAC (0-0)

How it Happened:  

• The Mariners got off to a quick start, scoring two goals within the first 13 minutes.
• The first goal was the result of a cluster inside the 18-yard box, while the second goal was a long-distance shot into the top left corner.
• The Mariners weren't done however, and seven minutes later scored again to make the game 0-3. 
• Despite the score line, the Terriers didn't give up. In the 25^th minute, Emily Wallingford converted a penalty kick to bring the Terriers within two goals.
• Terriers' goalkeeper Emilee Ireland had to make two important saves in the remaining 20 minutes in the first half, to ensure the game stayed 1-3.
• The second half was less eventful, with neither team able to find the back of the net until the 77^th minute, when the Mariners made the score 1-4.
• However, the Terriers quickly responded, thanks to a converted penalty kick from Aminah Davis-Macias to make the score 2-4. 
• Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the remaining time left.
• The Mariners ended the day with a total of 17 shots, compared to the Terriers eight.

 
The Goalkeepers:  
Two Terrier goalkeepers saw time in net today. Ireland played the first 45 minutes, making five saves. Emily Rock played the entire second half, making four saves.
Mariners goalkeeper Isa Thesing played the full 90 minutes and made four saves.
 
What's Next:
The Terriers will look to bounce back against the University of Maine Presque Isle at home, on September 9^th, 2023. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
