Waterville, ME – Women's Soccer fell to Vermont State University Johnson 0-1 on Sunday, October 8th, 2023. 

Thomas College: Overall (4-8), NAC (2-3)
Vermont State University Johnson: Overall (8-2-2) NAC (3-1-1)

How it Happened:  

  • The Terriers started the game well, generating a few chances in the first minute. Mary LaRochelle fired a shot that went high of the crossbar. 24 seconds later, The Terriers found themselves with a corner kick.
  • Aminah Davis-Macias had a chance to take the lead in the 14th minute, but her effort on goal was saved by Badger goalkeeper Isabel Atkisson.
  • 15 minutes later, Davis-Macias's shot was again saved by Atkisson.
  • Neither team could generate any clear-cut opportunities in the first half, with the score tied 0-0 at the break.
  • The Badgers came out of the halftime break on a roll, taking five shots in five minutes that were either missed, or saved by Terrier goalkeeper Emily Rock.
  • In the 49th minute, A badger shot hit the left post, the best chance of the game up to this point.
  • In the 69th minute, LaRochelle had an opportunity to take the lead, but the shot ended up hitting the left post.
  • The Badgers took the lead in the 79th minute, firing a shot into the top right corner of the net.
  • In the final seconds the Terriers had a corner kick, followed by a free kick. Being unable to capitalize on both, the game ended in a 0-1 loss for the Terriers.
  • The Terriers were outshot 19-9.
The Goalkeepers: 

Emily Rock got the start, playing the entire 90 minute in net, making six saves in some important moments.

Badger goalkeeper Atkisson also played all 90 minutes, making three saves. 
 
What's Next:
The Terriers will look to bounce back at home against local rival Colby College on Wednesday, October 11th, 2023. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
