MLAX: Thomas Takes 23-10 Win Over NVU-Lyndon

LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – The Thomas College men's lacrosse team defeated Northern Vermont University-Lyndon 23-10 on Sunday afternoon in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest.

The Hornets went up 2-0 early with a pair of goals in the first five minutes, but the Terriers answered with three in the final four minutes of the first to go up 3-2. Thomas scored the first two goals of the second to go up 5-2, and after a Lyndon goal at 9:22, the Terriers rattled off four unanswered to close the half with a 9-3 lead.

Thomas scored the first four goals of a high scoring first, before Lyndon answered with two and a row. The teams traded a goal apiece in the tenth minute of the quarter, then Thomas ended the period with three in a row to push their lead to 17-6. The Hornets scored twice in the opening minutes of the fourth, but Thomas answered with four in a row to make it a 21-8 game. Both teams scored twice more in the final seven minutes to make it a 23-10 final in favor of the Terriers.

Daniel MacWhinnie (Lanesborough, Mass.) led the team with five goals and three assists for nine points on the day. Mathew Crisco (North Haven, Conn.) had four goals and three assists, with William Heywood (Gray, Maine) and Max Irons (Limerick, Maine) also chipping in four goals each. Colby Nadeau (Winslow, Maine) and William Trippe (Charleston, S.C.) each had two goals, while Kieran McGrath (Hope, Maine) and Jakeb Weston (West Gardiner, Maine) had a goal apiece.  

Benjamin Gregoire (Gonic, N.H.) earned the win in the cage for Thomas, allowing three goals on four shots in 30 minutes of work. Patrick Buxton (Portland, Maine) came in for the second half, allowing seven goals on nine shots.
