PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – The Thomas College men's cross country team competed at UMaine-Presque Isle in their first race of the season on Saturday afternoon. There was not team scoring for the event, but junior Jarrod Hooper (Lyman, Maine) outpaced the field to claim his first career victory.
Hooper finished the race in 28:35, just under two minutes ahead of teammate Ryan Beckerman (Bethel, Maine) who came in second. Owen McQuarrie (Presque Isle, Maine) came in fourth, followed by newcomer Matthew Shea (Ellsworth, Maine). Connor Pellerin (China, Maine) registered a sixth-place finish in his collegiate debut, with teammates Harrison Mosher (China, Maine) and Cameron Meserve (Waterford, Maine) following in seventh and eighth. Freshman Jefferey Remis (Topsham, Maine) rounded out the lineup for Thomas with a tenth-place finish.
The Terriers will host UMPI on Sunday, October 18 on the Sukeforth Family Trail System.
