Box Score LEWISTON, ME – The Thomas College women's soccer team dropped a 6-1 non-conference match at Bates on Thursday afternoon.
The Terriers fall to 2-10 on the season in the loss while the Bobcats improve to 4-8-1. Senior keeper Paige Leary (Palermo, Maine / Erskine Academy) turned aside 23 shots in goal for the Terriers.
The Bobcats netted two quick goals in the 6th and 9th minute to jump out to an early 2-0 lead. Hannah Graves scored the first goal as she settled a crossing pass from Sarah DiPillo and beat Leary inside the far post. Erin Shea scored the second goal of the game on a feed from Graves. The Terriers responded in the 10th minute as Kayla Bess (Madison, Maine / Madison) notched her team-high sixth goal of the season from Julia Smith (Durham, Maine / Freeport). Graves added her second of the game in the 14th to finish the scoring for the half at 3-1 in favor of Bates.
DiPillo chipped in a goal in the 51st, Graves completed the hat trick in the 62nd, and Laura Jarry scored the final goal to end the game at 6-1. Bates outshot Thomas 51-2 and held a 5-0 advantage in corners.
The Terriers will return to North Atlantic Conference play on Saturday, October 15, as they take on Lyndon State as part of homecoming weekend at 1:30 p.m.
