WATERVILLE, ME - The Thomas College women's soccer team was shutout by crosstown rival Colby College in a non-conference game on Wednesday night at Smith Field by the score of 2-0.

The Mules struck first with 18 minutes to play in the first half on a goal from Lauren McCarthy.  Samantha Turbeville sent in McCarthy on a pass just outside the 18 and beat Terriers goalie Paige Leary to give the Mules a 1-0 lead.

The score remained the same for the rest of the half with the Mules having a heavy advantage with nine shots on goal and holding the Terriers to none.  The Mules also held a 3-1 advantage in corners.

Colby added an insurance goal 12 minutes into the second half on a score from Turbeville.  Laura Arnold sent a pass from the left side, deflecting off the fingertips of Leary and then off of the foot of Turbeville into the open net for a 2-0 lead.

Junior captain Paige Leary was tested often in the Terrier goal and finished with 17 saves in the loss.   Mules' goalie Samantha Rizzo made three saves in the shutout victory.

The Terriers will hit the road on Saturday, September 19 when they travel to Daniel Webster College for a 12:00 pm contest.
