WATERFORD, CT --- The Thomas College men's cross country team concluded its 2015 season with a 46th-place finish Saturday at the 2015 NCAA Division III New England Region Championships at Harkness Memorial State Park.
The Terriers, who finished with 1,398 points, were led by junior Nick Kopf (Hampden, ME / Hampden Academy). Kopf finished 191st of 380 runners overall, completing the 8-kilometer course in 27:58.0. Freshman Ethan Harriman (Readfield, ME / Maranacook) was the next Thomas harrier across the line, placing 275th in 29:16.1.
Senior Aron MacLean (Fairfield, ME / Lawrence) finish 277th (29:17.7) and senior Sam Cook (Plymouth, MA / Plymouth South) was 313th (30:14.3), while freshman Trystan Mercier (Boothbay, ME / Boothbay Region) was 342nd (31:20.7), freshman Tito Naranja (Fort Kent, ME / Fort Kent) was 347th (31:45.0) and sophomore Forrest Labbe (Sidney, ME / Messalonskee) was 351st (32:05.7) to round out the Terrier lineup.
Amherst sophomore Mohamed Hussein won the individual crown in 24:39.8 -- 2.2 seconds better than Williams senior Bijan Mazaheri.
Williams, behind three runners in the top-5, edged Amherst, 67-68, for the regional team title. Both teams automatically qualify for next weekend's NCAA Division III Championships at Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Wis.
