Chargers Shutout Terriers 5-0

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Thomas College women's soccer team was defeated by Colby-Sawyer College 5-0 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Sunday afternoon. 

Thomas evens its record to 5-5 overall and falls to 2-1 in conference action while Colby-Sawyer improves to 5-2-2 overall and 4-0 in the NAC.

Kelsey Campbell put the Chargers on the board at 5:17 when she scored off a rebound of her initial shot.  Less than two minutes later, Rachel Quaye began to make her mark on the match as she weaved through the Terriers defense to score into the left corner of the net.  Quaye gave the Chargers a 3-0 lead at 14:35 when she finished into the upper left side of the net off a feed from Abbie Sansoucy.

The hat trick for Quaye came 41 seconds into the second half.  Amanda Martin gave a give-and-go with Quaye who scored into the far side of the goal. Colby-Sawyer added a fifth goal in the 69th minute when Natalie Ellard put home a through ball from Vicky Driscoll.

Thomas junior goalie Paige Leary finished with 16 saves in the loss while Karley Hamilton earned a shutout win for the Chargers with eight saves.  Colby-Sawyer ended the match with a 35-12 advantage in shots and a 12-2 edge in corner kicks over the Terriers.

The Terriers will continue North Atlantic Conference play when they host Green Mountain on Saturday, October 10, in a 1 p.m. contest at Smith Field.
