BANGOR, ME --- Powered by an eighth-place finish by junior Nick Kopf (Hampden, ME / Hampden Academy), the Thomas College men's cross country team placed sixth at the North Atlantic Conference Championships Saturday at Saxl Park.
Kopf completed the 8-kilometer course in 28:02.31, just over a minute off the pace set by individual champion Robert Hollis of UMaine-Farmington (27:01.05).
Sophomore Ethan Harriman (Readfield, ME / Maranacook) finished 31st overall in 29:30.14 followed by senior Aron MacLean (Fairfield, ME / Lawrence) in 41st place (30:14.45), freshman Tito Naranja (Fort Kent, ME / Fort Kent) in 44th (30:31.41) and senior Sam Cook (Plymouth, MA / Plymouth South) in 47th (30:42.73).
Freshman Trystan Mercier (Boothbay, ME / Boothbay Region) took 54th (31:21.03) and senior Forrest Labbe (Sidney, ME / Messalonskee) placed 65th (32:19.81) to serve as displacers. Freshman Dillon Sullivan (New Gloucester, ME / Gray-New Gloucester) and juniors Jasen Dickey (Skowhegan, ME / Skowhegan), Richie Drown (Biddeford, ME / Biddeford), Cole Barney (Barre, VT / Northfield), Josh Devou (Levant, ME / Hermon) and Jordan Gibson (Marietta, Ga. / Alan C. Pope) also competed, but finished outside the Terriers' top seven runners and did not impact team scoring.
Lyndon State won the team title with 46 points behind three runners in the top 10. Colby-Sawyer was runner-up with 78 points, followed closely by UMaine-Farmington (84), New England College (91) and Castleton (99). Thomas finished with 168 points.
Next up for Thomas is the 2015 NCAA Division III Cross Country New England Region Championships at Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, Connecticut on November 14.
