Terriers Edge Pilgrims 2-1

HENNIKER, N.H.— Thomas College women's soccer scored two unanswered goals in the second half lifting the Terriers past the New England College Pilgrims 2-1 Saturday afternoon in a North Atlantic Conference contest.  Paige Leary backed the Terriers with a 21 save performance.

With the win the Terriers improve to 5-4-0 overall and remain undefeated in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play with a record of 2-0-0.  With the loss the Pilgrims drop to 5-7-1 on the season and even their NAC record at 2-2-0. 

NEC scored the lone goal of the opening half as Rachel Thomas came through with her first goal of the season putting in a touch feed from teammate Dawn Johnson in the 26th minute.

Thomas knotted the game at 1-1 in the 54th minute as Kajsa Kaufeldt made a cross from the end line that found the foot of Cassie Contigiani who had an open look, netting her sixth goal of the season.  Thomas took a 2-1 lead in the 64th minute as Camille Filloramo fired a shot about 30 yards out that would bounce off the post and in.  

NEC turned up the offensive pressure late recording 18 shots in the second half, including 13 on net, but was unable to convert as Thomas held on for the 2-1 victory.

Picking up the win in goal for Thomas was Paige Leary who finished with an impressive 21 saves.  NEC's Mackenzie Meegan recorded four saves for the Pilgrims.

The Terriers return to action on Sunday, October 4 when they play at Colby-Sawyer in a 2:30 p.m. conference contest.
