Box Score WATERVILLE, ME – The Thomas College women's soccer team defeated Green Mountain College 4-1 in a North Atlantic Conference match on Saturday afternoon at Smith Field. Camille Filloramo (Rochester, Mass. / Old Rochester) scored a hat trick in the victory.
Thomas struck first on Filloramo's first goal of the game 17 minutes in. After Green Mountain goalkeeper Kim Simonetti failed to clear the ball, Filloramo recovered the ball and buried it past Simonetti to put the Terriers up 1-0.
Filloramo added her second goal 15 minutes later on a shot from the 18' that tipped off the crossbar and into the net for the 2-0 lead. Filloramo completed her hat trick four minutes later. Kajsa Kaufeldt (Stockholm, Sweden / Grafiskt Education) crossed the ball to Filloramo, who flicked it in the goal to put Thomas up 3-0.
The Eagles answered less than a minute later when a handball in the box led to a penalty kick that was converted by Meagan Laymon to pull Green Mountain to within two going into the half.
The Terriers added their final goal with five minutes remaining in the game. Cassie Contigiani (Belmont, N.H. / Belmont) served the ball to Lauren Pelletier (Bath, Maine / Morse) who found the back of the net to bring the final score to 4-1.
Paige Leary (Palermo, Maine / Erskine Academy) earned the win for Thomas, making ten saves. Simonetti made three saves in the loss.
The Terriers will host Castleton on Sunday, October 11 in a 12:00 pm North Atlantic Conference match at Smith Field.
