Box Score CASTINE, ME - Thomas College defeated Becker College by a final score of 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Ritchie Field in the final day of the Old Town Canoe Classic hosted by Maine Maritime Academy.
Thomas College sits at an even 1-1 on the season, while Becker College falls to 0-2 on the young season.
The two teams held scoreless until the 58th minute when Kajsa Kaufeldt broke through defenders and took a ball passed up from Jenn Day.
Thomas saw another huge scoring opportunity later in the second half when Bronte Howorth slapped a shot off the crossbar and down on the goal line, narrowly missing the score.
Kaitlyn Rose and Katherine Cormier split time in the net for the Hawks, combining for seven saves, while Terrier goalie Paige Leary stopped eight shots.
The Red and Black return to action next weekend when they host University of Southern Maine and University of Maine-Presque Isle in the annual Terrier Soccer Classic.
