Women's Soccer Falls to Colby-Sawyer

WATERVILLE, ME – The Thomas women's soccer team dropped a North Atlantic Conference match 3-1 against Colby-Sawyer this afternoon at Smith Field.

The Terrier offensive attack was unable to generate much in the first half, as they registered just one shot on goal. Colby-Sawyer netted the game's first goal in the 26th minute off the foot of Rachel Quaye when she touched in a pass from Kelsey Campbell.

In the 43rd minute, Thomas had a scoring opportunity but just missed out as Elizabeth Anderson's shot hit off the crossbar.

The Chargers (10-5-1, 8-0 NAC) held an 18-4 shot advantage over Thomas (5-11, 2-6 NAC), along with a 13-0 advantage in corners.

In the second half, Colby-Sawyer would tack on to the lead after a corner by Kelsey Campbell made it through to the left side where Heather Carroll shot it past Paige Leary to bring the score to 2-0. 

Colby-Sawyer would tack on their third goal of the match when Paige Prokop received a pass from Heather Faasse and put it past Leary.

The Terriers would answer back quickly to get on the board on a breakaway goal by Kajsa Kaufeldt, her sixth of the season.

Leary finished with 12 saves on 15 shots faced, and Charger goalkeeper Karley Hamilton notched one save. The Terriers were outshot 31-7 on the afternoon and failed to register a corner.

The women's soccer team will play their final game of the regular season tomorrow at 12pm, when they host New England College.
