WATERVILLE, ME - The Thomas women's soccer team were unable hold off Maine Maritime as they fell 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Smith Field. The match only had a total of 14 shots combined between the two teams.

The Terriers (5-10, 2-5 NAC) got on the board first in the 12th minute when Mary Grace Morris lobbed a shot over the top of Mariner keeper Kelsie Hilton for her third goal of the season to give Thomas the lead.

Just over 14 minutes later, Maine Maritime (4-9, 2-5) found the equalizer off the foot of Victoria Cooper on an assist Briana Obshatkin that Cooper dodged by Terrier keeper Paige Leary.

In the 33rd minute, the Mariners took the lead when Morgan Libby headed in a cross from Obshatkin to make the score 2-1 that would hold into the half.

In the second half, neither team were able to generate much offensively, as the ball was often kept in the midfield. The Terriers had a great chance at a match-tying goal in the 87th minute by Jenn Day, but it struck the corner of the post and crossbar.

Leary recorded four saves in net for Thomas, while Mariner keeper had one saves on the afternoon.

The women's soccer team will look to get back on track next Saturday, October 25 when they will take on Colby-Sawyer at 1pm.
