Box Score CASTINE, ME – Thomas fell on the wrong end of a double-overtime decision, losing to Maine Maritime 1-0 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's soccer match on Tuesday night. With the loss the Terriers fall to 3-5, 1-1 NAC on the year.
The back and forth contest saw Thomas outshoot their opponent in the first half 4-3, while holding a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks. Despite the opportunities, the Terriers were unable to capitalize for a score.
In the second half Thomas would continue to put on the pressure, but saw the Mariners add some fire power of their own, outshooting them 6-5, and holding a 4-2 edge in corners. Neither side could find the back of the net and the game would go to extra time.
During the first overtime period Thomas took three shots but neither could get past MMA keeper Taylor O'Malley.
It would be the host Mariners that eventually brought the game to a close in the 101st minute on an unassisted marker by Annie Koensgen.
Elizabeth Anderson led the Terriers with six shots, three of them on net, while Kate Thibodeau made five saves in in goal.
In all, Thomas outshot MMA 12-11 and held a 6-5 lead in corners.
Thomas will return to the pitch on Saturday, Sept. 28 as they travel to conference rival University of Maine at Farmington. Game time set for 2pm.
