Terriers Denied by NEC, 2-1

HENNIKER, NH – Thomas women's soccer squad fell to New England College, 2-1 Sunday afternoon in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup.

With the win the Pilgrims improve to 5-7-2 overall and 3-2-0 in NAC play.  The loss drops the Terriers to 3-9-0 overall and 1-4-0 in the NAC.

New England College got on the board in the 15th minute of play as senior forward Kristen Walker redirected a shot off the foot of Alyssa Krause.

Thomas knotted the game at 1-1 in the 28th minute as sophomore Bronte Howorth recorded her third goal of the season poking in a loose ball in front of the net.

The Pilgrims regained the lead in the 57th minute of play as Krause would take a foul in the box and convert on her second penalty kick of the season.

The Terriers would have a scoring opportunity in the 70th minute of play as Kajsa Kaufeldt had a breakaway but Pilgrim keeper Tricia Sardagnola made the diving stop.

NEC finished the game holding the slight 9-7 advantage in shots on net. 

Sardagnola picked up the win in net finishing with six saves.  In goal for Thomas was Kate Thibodeau who recorded seven saves on the afternoon.

Thomas will hit the field on Saturday, Oct. 12 when they host conference foe Johnson State College.
