Thomas Denied by Badgers, 2-1

WATERVILLE, ME- Johnson State (5-2, 2-0 NAC) slipped past Thomas (2-5, 0-2 NAC), 2-1, in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's soccer match Friday afternoon. Kajsa Kaufeldt (Uppsala, Sweden) netted the Terriers lone goal in the losing effort.

The conference tilt was scoreless until the 42:45 mark when Kaufeldt picked up a feed in the slot from Bronte Howorth (Lincoln, Mass.), slipping past the defensive line and booted a shot past Badger keeper Katja Langmaid.

Johnson State would rebound scoring two goals in the second half to secure the victory. The first coming in the 54th minute as Shannon Grier would strike one past Terrier netminder Kate Thibodeau (Woolwich, Maine). At 63:18 Ally Bataille would pick up Kyle Kellard's free kick in the box to secure the game winner for the Badgers.

In net, Thibodeau turned away 10 shots while her counterpart, Langmaid, tallied five saves.

The Badgers held a 17-7 advantage in shots and an 11-2 edge in corner kicks in the victory.

Thomas will return to the pitch Sunday at noon as they play host to University of Maine-Fort Kent.
