Thomas Falls to Lyndon in Season Finale

LYNDON CENTER, VT- Thomas fell to Lyndon in a secured a berth in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's soccer match Saturday 3-1. With the victory, the Hornets end their regular season with a record of 4-11-1 overall and a mark of 2-6-1 in the NAC. The loss drops Thomas to 4-11-1 and 1-7-1 in league play.Kajay Rooke gave Lyndon the lead for good at the 38:18 mark of the opening half when she took a touch pass from Emily Strese and drilled a shot into the lower left corner of the net.

The Hornets maintained the advantage into intermission before taking a two-goal lead 20 minutes into the second half when Sarah Cornell punched home a cross off the foot of Hilary Bonasera.

The Terriers battled back to cut the deficit to a single goal at 76:03 when Bronte Howorth lifted a shot over the head of Lyndon goalkeeper Samantha Smith from 20 meters out. In the final minutes of the contest, the Hornets regain their two-goal advantage as Ritza Arias headed home a cross from Cornell to close out the scoring in the game.Smith made six saves to get the win while Terriers' goalie Kate Thibodeau collected 10 saves in the loss. Lyndon outshot Thomas 22-15 and held a 6-1 edge in corners kicks in the contest.
