PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – The Thomas College women's soccer team earned their first North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory of the season with a 5-1 win over UMaine-Presque Isle on Saturday afternoon.
The Owls jumped out to n early lead, with Marissa Reagle scoring in the seventh minute to put UMPI up 1-0. The Terriers answered back in the 21st minute when Nikki Bradstreet (Topsham, Maine) scored to tie it 1-1. Thomas took the lead late in the first, when Katherine Hoving (Bristol, Maine) scored in the 44th minute to put Thomas up 2-1 at the half.
Hoving added her second of the day and 30th career goal in the 52nd minute to extend the lead to 3-1. Madison Cantara (Biddeford, Maine) scored her first as a Terrier one minute later to make it a 4-1 game. Bradstreet added one more in the 88th minute to give Thomas the 5-1 win.
Isabelle Lang (Lincolnville, Maine) earned her first career victory, making one save in 78 minutes of action. Lauren Bartlett (Wells, Maine) came on for the final 12 and did not see a shot. Savannah Rodriguez took the loss for UMPI, allowing five goals on 12 shots.
Thomas will have an extended layoff before their next match, which will be a NAC contest at UMaine-Farmington on Tuesday, October 1 at 3:30 PM.
