MSOC: Terriers Fall to UNE, 2-1

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College men's soccer team fell to the University of New England 2-1 in a non-conference game on Saturday at Smith Field.

The Nor'Easters took the early lead with a goal by Alex Gray in the 14th minute. The Terriers answered back eight minutes later when Zenawi Bowen (St. George's, Bermuda) drew a penalty inside the box. Eric LaBrie (Yarmouth, Maine) stepped up to take penalty shot and converted for his second goal of the season to tie it 1-1. UNE took back the lead for good in the final minutes of the first with a Lee Esposito goal that gave them a 2-1 victory.

Camden Spear earned the win for UNE, making five saves on six shots. John Villanueva (Gray, Maine) made five saves on seven shots in the loss.

Thomas will return to action on Wednesday, September 11 against the University of Southern Maine at 7:00 PM on Smith Field.
