WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College men's basketball team defeated Maine Maritime Academy 97-66 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game on Friday evening at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium.
Zach Mackinnon (Kennebunk, Maine) led the way for Thomas, scoring 21 points on 5-10 shooting from three-point range. Demetris Webster (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) followed with 20 points. Jordan Goodson (Orlando, Fla.) played lock-down defense, notching seven steals for the Terriers.
Thomas bounced out to an early advantage, taking a 14-7 lead five minutes in. MMA went on a 13-6 run over the next three minutes to tie the game 20-20. The teams traded baskets through the remainder of the half, with Thomas taking a 45-40 edge into the intermission.
Thomas quickly extended their lead to double digits over the first four and a half minutes with a 13-7 run to go up 58-47. The Terriers kept their foot on the gas building their lead to as much as 34 and moved on with the 97-66 victory.
The Terriers will travel to Husson on Saturday, February 15 for a 5:00 PM NAC game.
