PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – The Thomas College men's basketball won their sixth-consecutive game with a 70-64 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory over UMaine-Presque Isle on Wednesday evening.
The Terriers had a balanced offensive effort, with five players scoring in double-digits. Zach Mackinnon (Kennebunk, Maine) and Jordan Goodson (Orlando, Fla.) each scored a team-high 14 points. Tyler Nixon (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) added 13 and pulled in a team-high nine rebounds. Demetris Webster (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) and Lovegeurson Fleurine (Fort Pierce, Fla.) each added 12 points for Thomas.
Thomas took off with the early advantage, pulling to a 16-8 lead midway through the first half. The Terriers continued to pad their lead, taking their largest lead of 31-15 at the 5:24 mark of the first. UMPI was able to pull the deficit down to single digits by making it 35-26 at the half.
The Owls managed to stay within striking distance throughout the second half and pulled themselves within five points with just over two to go in the game then they made it 63-58. UMPI hit some key shots in the final minute, but the Terriers were able to knock down free throws on the other end to escape with the 70-64 victory.
Thomas hosts another NAC contest on Saturday, January 25 against UMaine-Farmington at 3:00 PM at Larry Mahaney Gym.
