GORHAM, Maine – The Thomas College men's basketball team fell to USM 81-67 in a non-conference game on Thursday evening.
Demetris Webster (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) led the Terriers with 21 points. Zach Mackinnon (Kennebunk, Maine) added 12 points, while Lovegeurson Fleurine (Fort Pierce, Fla./Boyd Anderson) had 11 points and six rebounds. Tyler Nixon (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) had seven points and a team-high 11 boards.
Thomas led early jumping out to a 19-9 lead in the first eight minutes, but a 8-0 USM run brought it back to 19-17 with 10:15 to play. The Terriers responded with a 15-4 run to lead 34-21 with 5:35 left in the half. USM outscored the Terriers 13-7 in the final minutes of the half to make it 41-34 at the half.
After a back-and-forth start to the second half, USM took control and pulled away with the 81-67 win.
Thomas will close out the first semester on Sunday, December 15 when they host Fisher at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium at 2:00 PM.
