FRANKLIN, Mass. – Jacob Godfrey (Machias, Maine) scored a career-high 29 points to lead the Thomas College men's basketball team to an 81-75 victory over Dean College on Tuesday afternoon.
The teams traded the lead through the opening minutes, with a Bulldogs jumper tying the game 16-16 seven minutes in. The Terriers would separate themselves from that point, going on a 13-4 run to take a 29-20 advantage. Dean closed the gap late in the period, briefly taking the lead before a Godfrey layup in the final seconds game Thomas a 48-46 edge at the intermission.
The teams were once again neck and neck through most of the second, with the lead changing hands multiple times. After the Bulldogs tied the game at 75 with 3:27 to go, Thomas regained the lead and didn't look back, shutting Dean out the remainder of the game to take the 81-75 win.
Godfrey's 29 points were the highest total scored by a Thomas player this season. He also hauled in a team-high 16 rebounds. Jordan Goodson (Orlando, Fla.) scored 13 points with six rebounds and five assists, while Demetris Webster (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) and Zach Mackinnon (Kennebunk, Maine) each chipped in 12 points.
Thomas will return to action on Tuesday, December 3 when they visit Colby College at 7:00 PM.
