Men's Basketball Unable to Complete Comeback Against UMFK in Game One of Charlie Ryan Classic

Waterville, ME - Men's Basketball hosted the University of Maine at Fort Kent Bengals in game one of the Charlie Ryan Classic on Saturday, November 11th, but would fall short despite a strong second half comeback effort by a score of 84-92.

How it Happened:
  • The Terriers would get off to a slow start, with the Bengals taking a 13-0 lead early on.
  • A pair of free throws from Isiah Corson and strong finish in the paint from Nate Hebert shortly after would get the Terriers back on track.
  • Points from Corson and Spencer Minihan would make it a 10-24 game in the following minutes.
  • Jayden Desimone and Corson would take over the offense with 12 combined points in the final minutes of the first half, but the Terriers would find themselves down 28-48 heading into halftime.
  • Yasmo Mohamud, TJ Blackmon, and Corson would get the Terriers going early in the second half, each scoring to continue chipping away the Terriers deficit.
  • Desimone would give the Terriers some momentum shortly after, knocking down three consecutive three pointers to make it a 43-58 game.
  • The Terriers would flip the switch minutes later with an 8-0 run thanks to Mohamud, Corson, and Payton Mitchell, cutting the Bengals lead to less than ten points midway through the second half.
  • Strong buckets in the paint from Corson on consecutive possessions would make it a 61-67 game shortly after.
  • Clutch free throws from Ibrahim Doumbouya and a deep three pointer by Desimone would put the Terriers down 5 points with just under four minutes to play.
  • The Bengals would claim a ten point lead with just over two minutes to play, but a late scoring run from the Terriers would make it a 82-86 game with 27 seconds left to go.
  • Despite a strong second half comeback bid, the Terriers would ultimately fall short to the Bengals by a final score of 84-92.
