WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas college women's tennis team fell to Northern Vermont University-Lyndon 5-4 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) match on Sunday.
The first doubles team of Alexis Nestor (Gardiner, Maine) and Magan Williams (Oakland, Maine) took their match easily 8-1. The Hornets took the final two doubles 8-4 and 8-5 to go up 2-1 heading into singles.
The Terriers took the first three singles matches, but Lyndon swept the bottom half to earn the 5-4 win. Nestor earned a straight 6-0 set win at No. 1, while Williams took care of second singles 6-2, 6-0. Taylor Davis (Lebanon, picked up a three-set come from behind victory at No. 3 to collect the final Thomas point.
Prior to the match, senior Samantha Mercier (Berlin, N.H.) was recognized for playing in her final home match.
Thomas will travel to Husson on Wednesday, September 25 for a NAC match at 3:30 PM.
