NEW LONDON, NH – The Thomas College women's tennis team dropped their final match of the 2016 in a 9-0 decision to North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) leader Colby-Sawyer on Sunday afternoon.
The Terriers finish the season at 3-8 (2-5 NEAC) overall while the Chargers finish 9-1 (6-0 NEAC). The Chargers have won all 34 conference matches over the past five seasons and will enter next weekend's NEAC East Division tournament as the top seed.
Ashley Woodside and Maddy Gemerek won at the top doubles flight 8-2 over Lindsey Allen (Jay, Maine / Spruce Mountain) and Olivia Mora (Surry, Maine / Ellsworth). Lauren Blanchard and Christine Hill also won by an 8-2 score at No. 2 over Amelia Guimond (Fort Kent, Maine / Fort Kent) and Mia Navarro (Willimantic, Conn. / Windham). Michelle Lopes and Hilary Boucher did not drop a game en route to winning third doubles 8-0 over Sarah Vigue (Dexter, Maine / Dexter) and Olita Laraway (Morrisville, Vermont / Peoples Academy).
The Terriers dropped all six singles matches as Navarro had the best match of the contest, falling 9-8 (7-4) on the number four line.
The end of the match concludes the 2016 season for the Terriers and a great four-year career for senior Lindsey Allen.
