WATERVILLE, ME – The Thomas College women's tennis team defeated Green Mountain, 6-3, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference East (NEAC) matchup on Sunday morning in the Harold Alfond Athletic Center.
In the victory, the Terriers improve to 3-6 (2-3 NEAC) on the season while the Eagles stay winless at 0-8 (0-5 NEAC).
Thomas found themselves down 2-1 after doubles play but rallied in singles play for the victory. Lindsey Allen (Jay, Maine / Spruce Mountain) and Olivia Mora (Surry, Maine / Ellsworth) won in number one doubles 8-1.
The Terriers earned victories in five out of six singles matches with Allen winning on her senior day 6-0, 6-2 in number ones and Mora earning a win in twos 6-0, 6-2. Mora's singles win is her sixth individual victory in a row. Amelia Guimond (Fort Kent, Maine / Fort Kent) was victorious on the three line 6-1, 6-3 while Mia Navarro (Willimantic, Conn. / Windham) dropped a tough loss 6-2, 2-6, (8-10). Maddelyn Butts (Auburn, Maine / Edward Little) won in number five singles 6-4, 6-2 and Sarah Vigue (Dexter, Maine / Dexter) earned a victory in sixes 6-1, 6-3.
The Terriers will have two matches remaining as their next one will be Saturday, October 1, in a 1:00 p.m. NEAC matchup at MCLA.
