WATERVILLE, ME – The Thomas College women's tennis team was defeated by Castleton, 6-3, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) matchup Saturday afternoon.
In the loss, the Terriers fall to 2-6 (1-3 NEAC) while the Spartans improve to 6-3 (3-1 NEAC) in their victory.
The Terriers earned the first victory in doubles while Lindsey Allen (Jay, Maine / Spruce Mountain) and Olivia Mora (Surry, Maine / Ellsworth) won 8-5. Thomas fell in the next two matches with Amelia Guimond (Fort Kent, Maine / Fort Kent) and Mia Navarro (Willimantic, Conn. / Windham) losing a tough 8-6 decision.
In singles play, the Terriers earned two victories from Mora, who has won five straight singles matches, 1-6, 7-5, 10-8 in number twos and Navarro 6-2, 6-2 in number fours. Allen lost a close match in number one singles falling 6-4, 6-4.
The Terriers will host senior day for Lindsey Allen on Sunday, September 25, as they face Green Mountain in a 11:00 a.m. NEAC matchup at the Harold Alfond Athletic Center.
