JOHNSON, VT – The Thomas College women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to Johnson State in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Sunday afternoon.
The loss drops the Terriers to 2-4 (1-2 NEAC) on the season while the Badgers improve to 5-1 (2-1 NEAC).
Olivia Mora (Surry, Maine / Ellsworth) continued to win this week in number two singles as she defeated Grace Page 6-3, 6-4. Mora also won her doubles match with teammate Lindsey Allen (Jay, Maine / Spruce Mountain) 8-4.
Allen was defeated 6-3, 6-0 on the number one line while Amelia Guimond (Fort Kent, Maine / Fort Kent) was defeated in threes 6-1, 6-3. Mia Navarro (Willimantic, Conn. / Windham) dropped a tough match 6-3, 0-6, 1-0 (10-5), Maddelyn Butts (Auburn, Maine / Edward Little) lost 6-0, 6-1 in fives, and Olita Laraway (Morrisville, Vermont / Peoples Academy) fell 6-0, 6-0 in number six singles.
Guimond and Navarro lost 8-0 in their doubles match while Laraway and Sarah Vigue (Dexter, Maine / Dexter) were defeated 8-1.
In their next match, the Terriers will travel to the University of Southern Maine for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference contest.
