LYNDON, VT – The Thomas College women's tennis team defeated Lyndon State, 6-3, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) matchup on Saturday afternoon.
The Terriers earned their second win of the season, improving to 2-3 (1-1 NEAC) while the Hornets stay winless at 0-6 (0-2 NEAC).
Lindsey Allen (Jay, Maine / Spruce Mountain) was defeated by Nichole Jones in number one singles 6-2, 7-5 while Olivia Mora (Surry, Maine / Ellsworth) was victorious against Carina Alden on the two-line 6-0, 6-1. In number three singles, Amelia Guimond (Fort Kent, Maine / Fort Kent) was shutout by Alexa Richard 6-0, 6-0 and Mia Navarro (Willimantic, Conn. / Windham) won number four over Samantha Fisher 6-0, 6-0. Maddelyn Butts (Auburn, Maine / Edward Little) earned her first collegiate win in number fives over Haley Boule 7-6, 6-0. Olita Laraway (Morrisville, Vermont / Peoples Academy) won her match over Phoebe Achinda 6-0, 4-6, 6-4.
In doubles play, Allen and Mora were defeated 9-7, Guimond and Navarro won 8-0, and Sarah Vigue (Dexter, Maine / Dexter) and Laraway won 8-7.
The Terriers will continue their Vermont trip on Sunday, September 18, as they take on Johnson State in a NEAC matchup at 12:00 p.m.
