CASTLETON, VT – Thomas women's tennis saw their 2013 campaign come to a close as they fell to Castleton, 6-3 in the North East Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division Playoffs. With the win, Castleton moved on to the championship game to take on Colby-Sawyer.
Thomas jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles play, where Thomas' Jessica Bowen and Lindsey Allen teamed at first doubles for an 8-5 win, and Logan Bruneau and Katie McAllister took an 8-6 win at third doubles.
In singles action, the Spartans took five of six flights to seal their comeback win. Sara Novenstern, Ruby Bushey, and Kaydeen Juaire each won in straight sets to put the Spartans up 4-2. Meghan Susslin was downed by Bowen to cut the Spartan lead to just one. With the Spartans leading 4-3, Olga McIntyre and Monika Plante each earned three-set victories in the early afternoon to seal the championship berth for the Spartans.
Bowen was named to the conference all-tournament squad.
