WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College women's soccer team shutout Green Mountain College, 4-0, in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup on Sunday afternoon at Smith Field.
The Terriers move to 3-9 (2-4 NAC) in the victory while the Eagles drop .500 at 5-5-1 (1-4-1 NAC).
The Terriers got on the board early in the 9th minute as Jada Samuels (Hamilton, Bermuda) sent a pass over to Jackie Woodward (Burlington, Maine) in the box. Woodward redirected the pass to an open Emily Dufour (Waterville, Maine) at the left post who finished for the first goal of the game.
Thomas added their second of the game as Julia Smith (Durham, Maine) sent a crossing pass to Makenzie Carlow (Winslow, Maine) in the box as she one-touched the ball in for a 2-0 lead. Just before the break, Sam Jordan (Freeport, Maine) put the Terriers up by three with her first career goal as she tapped in a rebound shot from Dufour.
Woodward tallied the Terriers' fourth goal as she scooped up a loose ball in front after a crossing pass from Nikki Bradstreet (Topsham, Maine) in the 65th minute to finish the scoring at 4-0.
Devynn Turner (Casco, Maine) earned her first collegiate win in goal for Thomas while Jessica Casey made 11 stops in goal for the Eagles.
Thomas outshot the Eagles 24-5 and held a 4-1 advantage in corners. Taylor Merritt and Maya Golowasch recorded the two Eagles' shots on goal.
The Terriers will host Lyndon State College for their senior day on Saturday, October 14 at 1:30 p.m. as part of Homecoming Weekend.
