Terriers Earn First Victory at Johnson, 3-1

JOHNSON, Vt. – The Thomas College women's soccer team defeated Johnson State College, 3-1, in a North Atlantic Conference match on Saturday afternoon at Minaert Field. 

In the victory, the Terriers (1-6, 1-2 NAC) earn their first victory of 2017 while the Badgers drop to 3-4 (0-2 NAC)

Thomas got on the board early in the third minute with a breakaway goal by Makenzie Carlow (Winslow, Maine) to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead.

The Badgers tied things up in the 50th minute when Katherine Fish collected a deflection off the goalkeeper and buried a shot in the lower right corner to notch the game at one.

The Terriers answered right back ten minutes later on a goal by Taylor Peno (Hooksett, N.H.).  Thomas pushed the lead to 3-1 in the 67th minute when Julia Smith (Durham, Maine) finished the scoring for the contest.

Kaila Lemmer took the loss, making two saves on five shots. Nikki Bradstreet (Topsham, Maine) got the win, allowing one goal on five shots for her first collegiate victory. Johnson outshot the Terriers 13-8.

The Terriers will host the University of Maine at Presque Isle at home on Sunday, September 24 for a 7:00 p.m. matchup.
