CASTINE, Maine – The Thomas College women's soccer team fell to Maine Maritime Academy 5-1 on Tuesday night in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Ritchie Field.
The Mariners improve to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in the NAC, while the Terriers fall to 0-6 on the season and 0-2 in conference play.
Eryn Doiron put the Mariners on the board in the fifth minute on a pass from teammate Susana DeFrank, recording her second goal of the season.
The Mariners doubled their lead in the 37th minute when Emily Wyman faked out her defender and found the back of the net.
The Terriers capitalized on a Maine Maritime turnover in front of the net, and broke the shutout just seconds later on a goal from Nikki Bradstreet (Topsham, Maine); her first collegiate goal.
DeFrank added a goal of her own in the 42nd minute, her first of the season, to send the Mariners into halftime with a 3-1 lead.
Kelsea Anair added her second goal of the season on a ball passed into the box by Makayla Lewis in the 60th minute.
Doiron added her second goal of the game in the 67th minute to cap off the scoring for the Mariners and secure the 5-1 win.
Emily Conway earned the victory in net for the Mariners, while Kayla Gordon (Wiscasset, Maine) tallied seven saves in the loss for the Terriers.
Thomas will travel to Vermont on Saturday, September 23 to face NAC opponent Johnson State at 3:30 p.m.
