WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College women's lacrosse team opened their season with a 15-4 loss to Regis College on Friday afternoon on Bernatchez Field.
The Terriers struck first in the second minute when Mackenzie Driscoll (North Andover, Mass.) scored off a feed from Nikki Bradstreet (Topsham, Maine). Regis responded with four unanswered goals to control at 4-1 11 minutes in. Autumn Howe (Merrimack, N.H.) scored her first career goal, assisted by Meredith Wheeler (Scarborough, Maine), in the 14th minute to pull it back to 4-2. After the Pride scored three straight, Bradstreet scored on a free position shot to make it 7-3. Regis scored three more in the first to take a 10-3 lead into halftime.
The Pride outscored Thomas 5-1 in the second, with Driscoll picking up the Terriers goal to make it a 15-4 final.
Addyson Bond (Corinna, Maine) took the loss in goal for Thomas, making 12 saves on 24 shots on goal. Elizabeth Gotay (Guilderland, N.Y.) and Arianna Cannistraro (Waltham, Mass.) each saw time in net for the Terriers in the second half.
Thomas will host St. Joseph's (Conn.) on Wednesday, March 11 at 4:00 PM.
