CASTINE, Maine – The Thomas College women's lacrosse team fell to Maine Maritime Academy 16-11 in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon.
After the Mariners got on the board first, Thomas answered with a goal by Alexis Felch (Laconia, N.H.). MMA scored twice to pull ahead 3-1, before Nikki Bradstreet (Thopsham, Maine) scored on a free position shot at the 21:25 mark. The Terriers got goals from Felch and Mackenzie Driscoll (North Andover, Mass.) late in the first, while MMA scored three times to go into the half up 6-4.
Felch got her third early in the second, but the Mariners scored twice in a row to go up 8-5. Thomas scored two goals in under twenty seconds, first from Driscoll at the 23:28 mark, then Felch's fourth at 23:12 that made it 8-7. MMA separated themselves with four straight goals to go up 12-7. Rebecca Kennett scored midway through the half, while Meredith Wheeler (Westbrook, Maine), Felch and Bradstreet each scored in the final 10. The Mariners matched the Thomas offensive output, however, and took the 16-11 win.
Arianna Cannistraro (Waltham, Mass.) took the loss, making eight saves between the pipes.
Thomas will travel to Dean for a non-conference game on Monday, April 8 at 4:00 PM.
