WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College women's lacrosse team defeated Bay Path 14-8 in a non-conference game on Sunday afternoon at Bernatchez Field.
After Bay Path netted the opening goal a minute in, the Terriers answered with a goal by Nikki Bradstreet (Topsham, Maine) to even the score at 1-1 five minutes in. The Wildcats took the lead back less than a minute later, but Thomas answered again with two straight Mackenzie Driscoll (North Andover, Mass.) goals to take a 3-2 advantage. Bradstreet extended the lead with two straight goals, followed by a third from Driscoll that made it 6-2 with 7:44 remaining in the half. Bay Path added two late in the half to get back in it and make it a 6-4 game at the break.
The Wildcats regained the lead in the opening minutes of the second, scoring three straight goals to go up 7-6 just over seven minutes in. It was all Thomas from there, though, as the Terriers outscored Bay Path 8-1 to close the game. Alexis Felch (Laconia, N.H.) and Bradstreet each scored three times over the stretch, while Meredith Wheeler (Westbrook, Maine) and Driscoll each added goals for the Terriers to give them a 14-8 win.
Arianna Cannistraro (Waltham, Mass.) earned the win in goal for Thomas, making five saves on 13 shots.
Thomas will host UMaine-Farmington on Saturday, March 30 at 1:00 PM on Bernatchez Field.
