WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College women's lacrosse team dropped a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup to Maine Maritime Academy, 18-6, on Monday afternoon at Bernatchez Field on senior day.
The Terriers end the 2018 season at 1-12 (0-7 NAC) while the Mariners move on to the North Atlantic Conference Tournament at 6-5 (3-4 NAC).
Before the game, seniors Cassidy West (Vassalboro, Maine), Kimberly Banks (Swan's Island, Maine), Madison Bentz (Algonquin, Ill.), Jordan Turner (Casco, Maine), and Amira Jones (Chicopee, Mass.) were honored for their dedication to the women's lacrosse program.
The Mariners jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead in the first ten minutes of the opening half. Thomas rallied back with three unanswered goals to make it 4-4. Before the break, the Mariners outscored the Terriers 5-1 in the final minutes for a 9-5 advantage at the half.
Maine Maritime continued to pull away in the second half with seven straight goals before Thomas added their final marker with 3:42 remaining. The Mariners added two more before the final buzzer to finish at 18-6.
Shelby O'Neil led all scorers with seven goals, one assist, and 13 shots. Sydney Adams recorded four goals on nine shots while Madison Barry finished with a hat trick and one assist.
Jones held a team-high three goals on five shots while Alexis Felch (Laconia, N.H.), Nikki Bradstreet (Topsham, Maine), and Banks all chipped in with a goal. Banks caused five turnovers while scooping up five ground balls.
Sierra James made 14 saves in the win for the Mariners while Sydni Collier (Oakland, Maine) made 12 stops for the Terriers.
