WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College women's lacrosse allowed 12 first half goals en route to an 18-3 loss to Nichols College on Saturday afternoon at Bernatchez Field as part of the Terriers' senior day.
After today's game, Nichols moves to 4-10 on the season while Thomas drops down to 2-8.
The Bison offense was led by Kirsten Sullivan who netted six goals on seven shots. Lindsay O'Connell and Brooke Marion each contributed three goals in the victory. Mellissa Lafleur tallied a pair of goals while scooping up a game-high six groundballs.
The Terriers got on the scoreboard first just under two minutes in as Greenlaw put the Terriers up 1-0. The Bison responded with 11 straight goals in a 12-minute span to take a commanding 11-1 lead. O'Connell and Sullivan each scored three goals during the run.
Allen netted a marker for Thomas three minutes left in the half followed by a goal from Sullivan to head into the break at 12-2.
Nichols opened the second with two quick goals before LaVallee answered for Thomas. The Bison finished the half with four goals, including two from Sullivan to finish at 18-3.
Emily Eagan earned the victory in goal for the Bison making six saves. Molly Steen and Jacqueline Hogue saw time in relief. Sydni Collier (Oakland, Maine) stopped nine shots for the Terriers.
Thomas will return to conference play on Wednesday, April 19 as they travel to Maine Maritime Academy for a 4:30 p.m. contest.
