Thomas Women's Lacrosse Earns Second Seed in NAC Championship Tournament

WATERVILLE. ME - The Thomas women's lacrosse team has earned the No. 2 seed in the 2015 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament.

The Terriers won tiebreakers over Colby-Sawyer College and Husson University to grab the second seed. 

NAC predetermined tiebreaking procedures were used to seed teams with identical conference winning percentages.

Thomas currently has an overall record of 7-3 on the season and finished with a 6-2 conference mark. The Terriers close out their regular season tonight with a non-conference clash against Saint Joseph's College.

The Castleton Spartans (13-2 overall) claimed the top seed in the conference tournament after posting a perfect 8-0 record in NAC play. Top-seeded Castleton and second-seeded Thomas will receive byes in the tournament's quarterfinal round.

Colby-Sawyer (8-5, 6-2) claimed the No. 3 seed, while Husson (7-5, 6-2), the University of Maine at Farmington (5-7, 4-4) and New England College (4-12, 3-5) earned the No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 seeds respectively to complete the six-team tournament field.

Third-seeded Colby-Sawyer will host sixth-seeded New England College on Saturday, April 25, while fourth-seeded Husson will host fifth-seeded UMaine-Farmington on Sunday, April 26. Both game times are to be determined.

Winners of the two quarterfinal matches will advance to the semifinal round on Wednesday, April 29. The top-seeded Spartans will host the winner of the Husson vs. UMaine-Farmington quarterfinal, while the second-seeded Terriers will host the winner of the Colby-Sawyer vs. New England College quarterfinal. Both game times are to be determined.

Tournament action culminates with the NAC championship game on Saturday, May 2, at the highest remaining seed. The NAC tournament champion will earn an automatic berth in the upcoming 2015 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship.
