CASTLETON, VT - Seniors Brittany Premo and Jennifer Day combine for 13 goals as Thomas defeats Green Mountain College 20-7 on Saturday evening in a North Atlantic Conference contest. The Terriers have now won three straight games and remain in second place in the conference standings.
Thomas (7-2, 6-1 NAC) got off to a good start, outscoring Green Mountain (1-9, 0-7 NAC) 4-1 in the first 12 minutes of the game. Premo netted two goals while Day and Samantha Greenlaw each scored one. The Terriers then closed out the half by scoring four of the last six goals. Day added two more, Premo one and Sophia LaVallee added the other to give Thomas an 8-4 lead going into halftime.
In the second half, the Terriers continued to distance themselves from the Eagles, scoring the first three goals to opened the half. Greenlaw, Premo added to their game totals while Crystal Leavitt notched her first goal on the season to put the lead to 11-4 in favor of Thomas.
After a goal by Rebecca Girouard for Green Mountain, Thomas then reeled off seven unanswered goals to further distance themsevles from the Eagles to get their largest lead of the game at 13.
Both teams traded two goals apiece to finish off the game, as Thomas went on to earn their seventh victory of the season. Premo led the charge, tying a season-high with seven goals with one assist. Day added six goals and two assists. Brittant Fox recorded her second win of the season in goal, picking up six saves in the winning effort.
Girouard, Catie Brewster and Maegan Laymond each had two goals for Green Mountain, and goalkeeper Katie Legnard had nine saves in defeat.
Thomas will return to the field for their final home game on Wednesday, April 15 when they take on Husson University at 5:00 PM.
