NORWICH, VT - The Thomas women's lacrosse team erupted for a season-high 23 goals in a 23-6 win over the Johnson State Badgers in a North Atlantic Conference contest on Tuesday afternoon from Norwich University.
Thomas (4-1, 3-1 NAC) actually gave up the game's first goal just 13 seconds in, as Kylie Aither of Johnson (2-3, 1-2 NAC) took a dish from Nichole Weeks and put it past Terrier goalkeeper Tori Grey for the very early lead.
It wouldn't take the Terriers long to answer, as Hailey Mullen scored her first career goal unassisted to start a 6-0 run, as Brittany Premo netted three and Samantha Greenlaw and Jennifer Day each notched one.
Day and Premo would dominate the rest of the half, as they totaled nine of the Terriers 14 first-half goals as they took a 14-4 lead into halftime.
The Terriers put home the first two goals of the second half, as Greenlaw and Mayson Picard each scored their second goals on the game that extended the Thomas lead to 16-4. After a Badger goal by Aither, the Terriers went on their second 6-0 run of the game, with Day scoring three, Premo with two and senior defender Jaclyn Hartwell with her second career goal as Thomas went on for the 23-6 victory.
Day tied her season-high with eight goals, giving her 28 on the season. Premo finished with seven, while Sophia LaVallee and Joanna Murch had four and three assists each. Grey recorded eight saves in goal in the victory.
Thomas will be back in action on Thursday, April 2 as they return home to host Regis College at 4:00 PM.
