Women’s Lax Finishes Mass. Trip with their Second Win

Boston, Mass. – The Thomas College women's lacrosse team picked up their second win of the season Sunday afternoon as they downed the Wildcats of Wheelock College 14-4, in non-conference action. First year Jennifer Day paved the way for the Terriers win with a four goal one assist performance.

With the win the Terriers improve to 2-1 (0-0 NAC East Div.) picking up their second win in a row, while the home standing Wildcats drop their season opener falling to 0-1.

The Terriers wasted little time before lighting up the scoreboard with a strike from junior Ceara DiBiase just two minutes into the game. DiBiase's first of her three goals started off a nine goal run for the Terriers. Day scored all five of her points during the Terriers scoring run.

Kylie Hefford stopped the bleeding for the Wildcats when she slipped a shot past Thomas goalkeeper Teshia Cates at the 6:22 mark making it a 9-1 game.

DiBiase pushed the Terriers lead to 10-1 at the 4:33 mark to complete her hat trick, and junior Meagan Charest capped the Terriers first half scoring with her first career goal off of a free position shot with 4:05 left in the first. Wheelock's Hefford made it an 11-2 score at the break with an unassisted goal with 1:41 left to go.

Toral Nelson got the Terriers rolling again in the second half with her first career goal at the 27:19 mark giving the Terriers a 12-2 lead. The Wildcats tallied two goals in the second half but were unable to catch up with the Terriers as they cruised to a 14-2 win.

Cates picks up her second win of the season this afternoon with a 13 save performance between the pipes for the Terriers. Wheelock's Alanna Pihl shoulders the loss making a respectable seven saves.

Along with Day, DiBiase, Charest, and Nelson; Brianna Yates, Callie Joseph, Jasmine Ryan, and Terissa Ridge all found the back of the cage. For first year Yates her two goals, one assist performance provided the first points of her career.

The Terriers will host their first home game of the season on Saturday March 24th at 2:00 p.m.
