Strong First Half Lifts Terriers Past Elms

Chicopee, Mass. – The Thomas Terriers women's lacrosse recorded a 12-3, win on the road against the Blazers of Elms College Saturday afternoon in a non-conference matchup. The Terriers where led by first year defender Jennifer Day who scored three of the Terriers eight first half goals on her way to a five goal performance. Elms' was led by Lauren Mazza, who scored two of the Blazers three goals.  

With the win the Terriers move to 1-1 (0-0 NAC East Div.) on the young season, and with the loss the Blazers fall to 0-1 on the season.

The game was scoreless for the first two minutes, but at 27:42 sophomore midfielder Jillian Lambert would score off pass from first year Brittany Premo putting the Terriers up 1-0. The Terriers would never look back scoring eight straight goals in the first half. Thomas got off 22 shots and capitalize on two of their five free position shots as well as converting nine of their 12 clear attempts to take a 8-0 lead into the break.

Elms made a push early in the second half as Kaitlyn Harrington recorded her only goal of the contest at the 15:07 mark making it a 8-1 game. The Terriers would respond with a goal from Premo to bring the lead back to eight at 9-1. The Blazers continued to push back as Mazza recorded both of her goals and with 6:37 left in regulation the score sat at 9-3. The Terriers would add three goals capped by junior midfielder Jasmine Ryan who would score the final goal of the game with 32 seconds left to play.

Sophomore midfielder Kim Migliara would also score for the Terriers to go along with Day, Lambert, Premo, and Ryan. Junior goalkeeper Teshia Cates also recorded 11 saves for the win.

The Terriers will finish up their Massachusetts road trip Sunday against Wheelock College at 12:00p.m..
