Castleton, Vt. – The Thomas College Women's Lacrosse team (1-4, 0-1 NAC) fell in non – conference action this afternoon 22-4 to the home standing Spartans of Castleton State (5-2). Senior Kiley Jolicoeur led the Terriers with three goals, three draw controls, and two groundballs.
Amanda Flodstrom put Castleton on the board first at 27:02 as the freshman converted on a free position attempt past Terriers' goaltender Teshia Cates for a 1-0 lead and her 17th marker of the season. Sarah Clark followed with a goal at the 26:30 to make it 2-0. Flodstrom pushed the Spartans ahead, 3-0, as she dodged two defenders from the left side of the eight-meter line and ripped a shot past Cates at 26:12 of the first half.
Jolicoeur responded for Thomas at 25:41 racing down the middle of the field sniping a shot past Castleton goaltender Lily Derbyshire for her team-leading 12th goal of the season. Jolicoeur found the back of the net a second time in the half at the 7:19 mark to make it a 13-2 game.
With 3:12 remaining in the first half sophomore Ceara DiBiase fired a shot into the back of the net, to end the scoring for the half. At intermission the Spartans held a commanding 14-3 lead of the Terriers.
Jolicoeur opened the second half with her third goal of the game to complete the hat trick at the 23:46 mark. From there on the Spartans rallied off eight unanswered goals to wrap up the victory.
Cates made 10 saves against the 32 Spartans shots she saw today.
The Terriers will travel to Daniel Webster (0-2) on Wednesday April 6th for a 4:00 p.m. non – conference match up.
